Hotel Palace

Just off Wenceslas Square, the Palace Hotel sits in the historic and financial centre of Prague. Built in 1906 in Viennese Art Nouveau style, the design was the work of Frantisek Buldro, a Prague builder and the owner of the hotel, together with George Justich, the architect. In 1924, after Emanuel Oppel bought the building, Hotel Palace Praha became a sought-after centre of social and cultural life and one of the few luxury 5-star hotels in Prague. Closed in 1986, and thoroughly but sensitively renovated, the original character of the hotel was preserved using a so-called house within a house renovation scheme, i.e., keeping intact the outer wall and facade while redoing the interior. Reopened in 1989, the Palace continues to offer excellent service and a home away from home to many prominent personalities from around the world.
